StriVectin Better Than Botox?

by Cameron Taylor

Strivectin; an alternative to botox that costs less and doesn’t involve any injections or downtime; we look at whether or not this miracle anti wrinkle cream lives up to its claims. For years there has been a lot of interest in Strivectin; in 2004 it was the highest selling skincare product in the US, with sales totaling $64 million.

Furthermore, Strivectin outsold all other cosmetics brands when released in France to the surprise of many critics. The French, known for their loyalty chose the American product Strivectin over their prestigious local counterparts. Although this doesn’t provide direct evidence to its effectiveness, it does indicate the widespread popularity.

StriVectin-SD was originally sold in maternity shops as a cure for stretch marks, targeted at pregnant women. As time went by a movement started of women using the product on their faces, sharing stories of success in reducing wrinkles, crow’s feet and fine lines on their face. The success of Strivectin was perhaps due to the product evolving through this underground movement with word of mouth the biggest selling point – allowing Strivectin to gradually become better known as a wrinkle cream for the face rather than its intended purpose.

So is it better than Botox? Well it is entirely up to interpretation, Strivectin itself only narrowly avoided legal action against the slogan “better than botox?” because it posed the question, not made the statement. If anything, it may help people look for different options before choosing the more expensive procedure of botox. For many, Strivectin is a better choice. Firstly it is a non evasive procedure; it offers gradual results, doesn’t require injections or facial peels, and is not rough or damaging on the skin.

Botox wears off, but Strivectin remains working as long as you re-apply daily. There is no chance of allergic reactions as the product can be tested beforehand, and if you have wasted any money it is only the cost of the single tube, not an entire botox procedure. For people who don’t want to take the big step of surgery, Strivectin is an effective treatment to remove the signs of aging. Furthermore, for people who want an alternative to a wrinkle cream, Strivectin claims to have a more effective patented formula than other wrinkle creams.

But is Strivectin more effective than Botox? An Independent study found that Strivectin is not as effective as the proven injected drug; the study concluding that Botox provided greater efficacy and patient satisfaction in the treatment of glabellar frown lines than StriVectin-SD, and that none of the topical preparations were better than Botox.
